As the Badgers get set for their Las Vegas Bowl clash with Arizona State, Wisconsin running backs coach Gary Brown has been dealing with a non-COVID-related illness per UW officials.

Brown is currently still in Madison, but could make the trip to Las Vegas later in the week if his health improves. In the meantime, Wisconsin is turning to a former Badger running back to step in and lead the room. Former Badger Garrett Groshek, who ironically spent time in Las Vegas with the Raiders during training camp, is serving as a temporary running backs coach for the Badgers.

As a Badger, Groshek racked up 1,216 rushing yards on 235 carries while scoring 7 career touchdowns. As the week moves on, we will see if Brown is able to rejoin the team. Wisconsin and Arizona State will take the field on Thursday night at Allegiant Stadium.
