The 33-year-old said he would be joining the Los Angeles Angels in a staff role. Pedro Moura of The Athletic reported that Bailey would be the team's instant replay coordinator and a coaching assistant.
Bailey, an All-Star closer in his first two seasons with the A's, had his career derailed by numerous shoulder injuries. The right-hander posted a sub-2.00 ERA in each of those campaigns and had a 2.07 ERA in 157 appearances with the Athletics before being traded to the Boston Red Sox.
With the Red Sox, Bailey's major injury issues began, and he posted a 7.04 ERA in 19 appearances in 2012. Only once did he appear in more than 30 games in a season from that point on, totaling 45 between the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels in 2016.
In all, Bailey posted a 3.12 ERA in 265 games between the Athletics, Red Sox, New York Yankees, Phillies and Angels.
