Needing a response, Flyers sport new top line with big return originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Following their 3-2 shootout letdown in Montreal, the Flyers (11-12-5) will look to answer Saturday when they host the Senators (9-17-1).

Let's get into the essentials for the game:

  • When: 7 p.m. ET with Flyers Pregame Live at 6:30 p.m. ET

  • Where: Wells Fargo Center

  • Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia

  • Live stream: and the NBC Sports MyTeams app

• On Thursday night, the Flyers let a point and their season-best three-game winning streak slip away against the 7-21-3 Canadiens in an empty Bell Centre.

The Flyers don't want to fall too far off track again after stringing together some positive performances under interim head coach Mike Yeo.

So a response at home is needed for the Flyers before two big divisional games.

They'll hope the return of Joel Farabee will aid their response. The 21-year-old winger missed the last seven games with a shoulder injury. Farabee received loud stick taps from his teammates as he led post-morning skate stretches at the Wells Fargo Center.

Farabee will jump onto the first line with Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny.

"It's nice to see him back," Couturier said Saturday. "He's brought some good energy, he's worked hard to come back. We're glad to have him back with us, he's a big part of our team and we need it."

Prior to suffering the injury in the first period of the Flyers' 4-1 loss Dec. 1 to the Rangers, Farabee had scored a goal in each of his previous three games. He has seven on the season to go along with three assists. Last season, Farabee blossomed and finished with a team-high 20 goals in 55 games.

"Whether it's on the penalty kill, power play, 5-on-5, he is a huge player for us," Yeo said Wednesday.

• While Farabee returns, the Flyers will be without Carter Hart (illness), Max Willman (COVID protocol) and Morgan Frost (COVID protocol).

• Don't let the Senators' record deceive you.

Ottawa has started to play well, going 5-2-0 in its last seven games. That stretch includes wins over the Lightning, Panthers, Hurricanes and Avalanche.
