Is Crosby destined to hit career milestone against Flyers? originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Flyers will have to pull off a pretty big upset Tuesday night if they want to get back in the win column.

Without a road victory in 2022, the Flyers (15-24-8) visit the first-place Penguins (30-11-8).

Let's get into the essentials for the game:

  • When: 7 p.m. ET with The Warm Up at 6 p.m. ET and Flyers Pregame Live at 6:15 p.m. ET

  • Where: PPG Paints Arena

  • Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia

  • Live stream: NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com and the NBC Sports MyTeams app

Sidney Crosby is one goal shy of scoring the 500th of his eventual Hall of Fame career.

There may not be a more appropriate opponent than the Flyers for Crosby to hit the milestone.

The three-time champion owns 49 career regular-season goals against the Flyers, his most versus any NHL opponent. Over the last three seasons, Crosby has eight goals in 11 meetings with the Flyers.

The 34-year-old center has been on quite a roll recently, putting up 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in his last 13 games. Meanwhile, the Penguins are 20-3-3 in their last 26 games, a stretch going back to Dec. 4.

• The Flyers haven't won on the road since Dec. 29.

They've been hit hard by injuries and now the focus for management is to "aggressively retool" for next season.

On Tuesday night, the Flyers will be without:

Carter Hart has allowed more than three goals in a game only twice since Dec. 8.

In that stretch, the 23-year-old is 4-9-2 with a 2.83 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.
