Police have issued a warrant for Floyd Mayweather Sr. after the former boxer was accused of punching a woman at the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin fight, according to TMZ.
Mayweather, father of Floyd Mayweather Jr., reportedly got into an argument with the woman, pulled her out of his car by the leg and then punched her in the leg.
The woman went to the hospital and was treated for minor injuries. Mayweather Sr. was charged with misdemeanor battery.
TMZ spoke with a representative for Mayweather Sr, who said the woman is “trying to extort money and she’s angry because she’s not getting the money from Floyd. It’s not going the way she wants it to go.”
The incident took place following the Canelo-GGG fight on Sept. 17. Mayweather Sr. was charged, and had a warrant issued for his arrest, Jan. 16.
The 65-year-old Mayweather Sr. had a boxing career that spanned from 1974 to 1990. Since retiring as a fighter, Mayweather Sr. has transitioned to training boxers. He’s been an on-and-off trainer for his son, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
