Florida hosting nearby IOL on two visits this week

The Florida Gators will host Ponte Vedra interior offensive lineman Jake Guarnera on Tuesday and Saturday, according to a tweet he sent out Tuesday morning.

Ponte Vedra Beach is only 90 minutes away from the University of Florida, so Guarnera is able to make two trips happen in one week with ease. He’s been a frequent visitor to the Swamp, stopping by on March 18 and in January for a Junior Day. He recently met with the Miami Hurricanes and Michigan Wolverines, but Florida is still his most frequent destination along with North Carolina State.

Swamp247 caught up with Guarnera and discussed Florida’s recruitment of him. Offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton are his main points of contact at UF, but area recruiter/outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson has also made an impression on him.

Florida is doing the right things to stay high on Guarnera’s list but he admitted that there are other schools pushing a bit harder. He’s yet to release a list of his top schools, so there’s no clear indication of where things stand. It’s hard to imagine the Gators not getting an official visit down the line, though.

All four major recruiting services agree that Guarnera is a three-star caliber talent, but he’s ranked as high as 17th among interior offensive linemen in the class of 2024 and as low as 45th. The 247Sports composite puts him at No. 548 overall and No. 31 at his position.
