Florida football sets another record on SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll

The University of Florida has 137 student-athletes named to the 2023 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, the league announced last week. Of those, 75 belonged to the football team, which represents a new SEC record breaking the one previously held by UF.

This is the third time Gators raised the league’s top bar for football honorees since 2020, placing 62 honorees on the list last season which surpassed its previous record of 55 set in 2020.

The academic honor roll is based on grades from the 2023 spring, summer and fall terms.

The SEC champion Gators women’s cross-country team placed 14 on the list while volleyball placed a program-record 13 — resetting the previous high of 11 posted in the fall of 2017. Men’s cross country also placed a league-leading 15 and soccer saw 20 players earn the honor.

To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; be on scholarship, a letter-winner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
