Florida Atlantic suspends leading receiver in 2016 after battery charges (Updated)

Woods is accused of injuring two men in a fight at a party. One said he suffered a broken jaw while the other said he had internal injuries.
Per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Woods approached two men at a party and was allegedly unhappy with things one was saying about him. He ended up allegedly punching the man’s friend and then the two men said they were beaten by others while on the ground.
Muckle told police he discovered internal bleeding when his urine was “real dark and black.” He was hospitalized for five days, the affidavit said.
On Jan. 20, Reese underwent surgery “to reconstruct his broken jaw caused by the impact of Kalib striking him in the face,” Reese’s mother said in the affadavit. Reese’s mouth was wired shut and he was unable to eat solid foods for several weeks, according to the affidavit.
If you believe the man that Woods allegedly intended to punch, the reasons for the altercation are patently absurd.
Reese told investigators that Woods was upset with Muckle over a foul in a basketball game over a year ago. Muckle said Woods initiated the incident “because in the past I have received several threats from him in person multiple times and over social media (Twitter) where he basically states at the next event he seen me he was going to assault me.”
Woods was Florida Atlantic’s leading receiver in 2016 with 68 catches for 934 yards.

Florida Atlantic wide receiver Kalib Woods has been suspended from the team after his Tuesday arrest on two felony battery charges.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Woods was arrested by FAU Police. Per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Woods was arrested for an alleged January incident and a warrant for his arrest was signed at the end of May.
Per FAU Owl Access, the charges stem “from a fight in a local bar about a girl and that Woods originally denied he was at the establishment.”
Florida Atlantic said Woods’ suspension would continue “pending the outcome of the charges.”

Woods had 68 catches for 934 yards and just one score in 2016. He was by far the No. 1 receiver for the Owls last season. The team’s second-leading receiver in terms of yardage, Tavaris Harrison, had 18 catches for 304 yards.
If Woods remains on the team, new Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin will have the team’s quarterback (Jason Driskel), leading rusher (Devin Singletary) and leading receiver back for his first season in 2017.
