Five former LSU players set for MLB postseason

The MLB playoffs begin on Tuesday night and a handful of former LSU players are set to appear.

Last year, we saw Aaron Nola and Alex Bregman both make World Series runs with the Astros eventually winning it all.

According to BetMGM, the Braves are the current title favorites at +250.

The top five is rounded out by the Dodgers, Astros, Orioles and Phillies.

Several players from this group contributed to postseason runs at LSU, including Nola, who helped lead LSU to a CWS title in 2009.

Here’s a closer look at the five former Tigers competing in October.

Bregman had a solid 2023, playing in 161 games. He hit .262 with a wRC+ of 125. He ranked ninth in the AL in hits while hitting 25 homers and 28 doubles.

Bregman has a career postseason wRC+ of 113 to go along with his two World Series rings.

Nola was up and down in 2023. He only had one month where his ERA was below four, but he remained a steady contributor in the Phillies rotation. However, he posted a 5.47 ERA in September, making it his worst month of the year. The Phillies will need him at his best if they hope to win it all.

Andrew Stevenson

Stevenson only played in 25 games this year, but he made the Twins’ postseason roster. He hit just .189, but his defensive metrics are strong.
