A plethora of Class of 2023 recruits pledge to play football at Texas over a busy weekend

For the Texas Longhorns, a big day on the recruiting trail was followed by a busy weekend.

Six rising seniors announced this weekend that they will play football at Texas. On Saturday, linebacker Liona Lefau pledged to the Longhorns. Texas then received five commitments Sunday from wide receiver Jonah Wilson and offensive linemen Jaydon Chatman, Connor Stroh and Andre Cojoe, and added another lineman Sunday night.

This weekend's flurry of commitments came on the heels of Thursday's news that five-star quarterback Arch Manning had committed to Texas. With a recruiting class that now has 14 players, Texas climbed 14 spots to No. 5 on 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2023 recruiting class. After Manning's commitment, Texas was No. 19.

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns received six commitments for the 2023 recruiting class over the weekend. The pledges came on the heels of last Thursday's pledge by New Orleans quarterback Arch Manning, the nation's No. 1 prospect.

UPDATE (10:00 p.m.): Late on Sunday night, Texas received its sixth commitment of the weekend and fifth pledge of the day. Offensive lineman Trevor Goosby announced that he will become a Longhorn after he graduates from Melissa.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound Goosby is a three-star recruit. On the 247Sports composite, he's rated as the No. 43 tackle in the country. He had been committed to TCU since April.
