Firefighters rescue ‘inquisitive’ dog that got stuck on London roof
Firefighters rescued a curious Staffordshire bull terrier who got himself stuck on the roof her owner’s home in Hackney, London.
The three-year-old dog, named Willow, escaped through a window of her owner’s loft conversion in Alkham Road to reach the roof.
Stoke Newington White Watch Manager Jason Butcher said: “Willow had been missing for a few hours and at first they thought she had got out the front door but then they heard her up on the roof.
“She’s lucky she didn’t fall as it was only a small ledge where she got out of the window. She then climbed up the pitched roof and onto a flat area. Every now and then they could see her looking through the Velux window.”
The firefighters used an aerial ladder to perform the rescue and hand her back to her relieved owner.
Mr Butcher said: “We would always urge people to contact the RSPCA if they see an animal stuck or in distress.
“Firefighters love animals too and we are always happy to assist if the RSPCA require our assistance and specialist equipment, as we used in this case.

London Fire Brigade tweeted the story saying: “Firefighters rescued inquisitive Staff Willow who got stuck on the roof of her owner’s house.”
