This is not what Texas meant by Hot Stove season.

Globe Life Field — the soon-to-be home of the Rangers — caught fire on Saturday as construction continued on the new ballpark.

The Arlington Fire Department responded to the scene, a two-alarm fire, and reported that the blaze was contained to the upper sections of the stadium. No one was injured and the cause of the fire, which appeared to burn for about 30 minutes, is still under investigation.

There’s also video from inside the stadium that captures part of the blaze.

This is certainly a setback for the $1.2 billion stadium, though it remains to be seen just how much this will affect construction. Team officials told the Dallas Morning News they were still trying to understand the extent of the damage as of early Saturday evening.

The Rangers are scheduled to play their inaugural game at Globe Life Field on March 31 against the Los Angeles Angels.
