NC State holds on for win (3:39 p.m.)

The Pack prevails in FSU 27-21 to improve to 3-1 and 1-0 in the ACC.

Block punt gives FSU hope (3:35 p.m.)

Florida State blocked NC State junior A.J. Cole's punt and took over at the NC State 23 with 3:31 left. The Noles were unable to get a first down, but junior kicker Ricky Aguayo's 34-yard field goal cut the Pack's lead to 27-21 with 3:01 left.

FSU is out of timeouts.

Bad snap leads to safety (3:21 p.m.)

Redshirt junior center Garrett Bradbury's snap in the end zone was wide to redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley, resulting in a safety with 6:26 to go.

Making matters worse, FSU redshirt sophomore safety Derwin James returned the ensuing kickoff to the NCSU 40.

Pack tacks on huge touchdown (3:11 p.m.)

A shovel pass from redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley to senior H-back Jaylen Samuels went for a 14-yard touchdown to give NC State a 27-16 lead with 9:16 left in the game.

Junior running back Nyheim Hines ran six times for 43 yards on the drive, and Finley found redshirt junior Stephen Louis for a 10-yard pass on third and nine to reach the FSU 35 in a key play.

Another big play for FSU sets up another field goal (2:57 p.m.)

Freshman quarterback James Blackman found redshirt sophomore George Campbell for a 60-yard pass to the NC State 11, but NCSU's defensive line came up with back-to-back sacks to force a successful 37-yard field goal try from sophomore Ricky Aguayo.

NC State leads 20-16 with 14:08 left in the game. Senior defensive end Bradley Chubb has two sacks and a forced fumble.

NC State answers with field goal (2:30 p.m.)

Redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley's first interception of the year lasted just a few seconds. A pass interference flag on FSU kept the drive alive instead, nd NC State reached the FSU 3 where on third and goal a reverse pass by redshirt sophomore receiver Jakobi Meyers went nowhere and he lost nine yards.

Redshirt junior kicker Carson Wise's 30-yard field goal put NC State up 20-13 with 6:06 left in the game.

Meyers has gone over 100 yards receiving with four receptions for 108 yards and a score.

Big play sets up Florida State field goal (2:15 p.m.)

Freshman quarterback James Blackman hit junior Auden Tate in stride for a 51-yard pass to the NC State 12, setting up what would eventually be a 36-yard field goal by sophomore Ricky Aguayo to cut NC State's lead to 17-13 with 11:33 to go in the third quarter.

FSU gets late field before half (1:41 p.m.)

Partly aided by redshirt sophomore Jakobi Meyers' unsportsmanlike penalty after scoring his touchdown, the Noles took over at its own 41 and drove to the NC State 11 before senior Bradley Chubb sacked freshman quarterback James Blackman for a 9-yard loss with 12 seconds left.

FSU sophomore Ricky Aguayo, after three consecutive NC State timeouts, made a 37-yard field goal with five seconds on the clock. The Pack takes a 17-10 lead into halftime.

Big plays have Pack up 17-7 (1:29 p.m.)

Senior defensive end Bradley Chubb forced a fumble by FSU freshman quarterback James Blackman at the 22 that was recovered at the NC State 2 by the Pack. Then NCSU dodged a bullet when FSU sophomore Ricky Aguayo missed a 30-yarder with 3:07 left that could have tied the score.

Four plays later, redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley found redshirt sophomore Jakobi Meyers for a 71-yard touchdown to put NC State up 17-7 with 1:34 left in the half.

Noles get on the board with touchdown (12:57 p.m.)

FSU responded to the early punch from NC State. Freshman running back Cam Akers sparked the offense with runs for 14 and 16 yards to start the drive. Freshman quarterback James Blackman then delivered, completing a four-yard pass to junior Nyqwan Murray on fourth and three, throwing a 24-yard strike to junior Auden Tate on third and 8 while getting drilled and then on third and goal from the four finding Tate in the back of the end zone.

NC State leads 10-7 with 12:24 to go before hafltime.

NCSU dominating the first quarter, adds touchdown (12:36 p.m.)

After a second straight three-and-out forced by the Wolfpack defense, NC State's offense drove 10 plays for 76 yards and capped the possession with a two-yard touchdown run from senior H-back Jaylen Samuels on fourth and goal to go up 10-0 with 3:20 left in the first quarter.

It was Samuels' 37th career touchdown, moving him into fourth by himself after breaking a tie with T.A. McLendon for most TDs in school history.

Pack strikes first with field goal (12:18 p.m.)

The NC State defense stuffed Florida State into a three-and-out on the game's opening possession, with senior defensive tackle Justin Jones getting a sack on third and 11.

The Pack then drove do the FSU 6 before being forced to attempt (and make) a 24-yard field goal by redshirt junior Carson Wise. NC State converted a pair of lengthy third downs, with redshirt freshman C.J. Riley making a 12-yard catch on third and six and senior H-back Jaylen Samuels getting 27 yards on third and 11.

NCSU leads 3-0 with 8:09 to go in the first quarter.

NC State travels to No. 11/12 Florida State for a key early-season showdown in the ACC. Kickoff is at noon and the game will be televised on ABC/ESPN2.
