AUBURN | Summary and statistics from No. 13 Auburn's game against No. 24 Mississippi State at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn opened the game with a 7-play, 75-yard touchdown drive as Kerryon Johnson had a 59-yard run and then scored on 4th-and-goal from inside the 1-yard line. The defense forced a three-and-out after the reversal of a targeting penalty on Tray Matthews, but Jarrett Stidham fumbled on 3rd down at AU's 32-yard line. AU's defense held MSU to one first down with the Bulldogs getting on the board with a 40-yard field goal. On AU's next drive, Stidham connected with Darius Slayton on a 49-yard reverse pass and Ryan Davis for a 7-yard touchdown. AU gained 170 yards in the 1st quarter to MSU's 45.

The 2nd quarter began with an exchange of punts. Marlon Davidson had a big play on 3rd down with a batted pass. On the next play, Stidham connected with Will Hastings for a 47-yard touchdown. MSU tried a fake punt on 4th-and-4 but Daniel Thomas came up with the stop to give AU the ball on MSU's 33-yard line. AU couldn't get a 1st down and Daniel Carlson's 51-yard field goal attempt bounced off the left upright. AU's offense stalled its next two possessions and MSU responded with a 77-yard drive as Nick Fitzgerald threw a 5-yard TD pass to Justin Johnson to cut AU's lead to 21-10 at halftime.

Auburn's first drive of the 2nd half started at its own 1-yard line but Stidham connected with Eli Stove for a 57-yard pass, Stove went another 30 yards on an end around and Johnson scored from 2 yards out as AU drove 99 yards on 7 plays to take a 29-10 lead. Tray Matthews came up with a diving interception at midfield to stop MSU's next drive but AU managed just one 1st down before punting. MSU drove 51 yards but came up short on a 4th and 15 at the AU 39. The Tigers, however, turned it right back over as Kamryn Pettway fumbled at the 43-yard line.
