AUBURN | Summary and statistics from No. 15 Auburn's game against Mercer at Jordan-Hare Stadium.


Auburn drove 45 yards on its opening possession before wide receiver Kyle Davis fumbled on Mercer's 25-yard line. Auburn's defense forced a quick 3-and-out but the offense was forced to punt after one first down when Eli Stove dropped a third-down pass from Jarrett Stidham. Auburn finally got on board on its next drive going 85 yards in 10 plays and scoring on a 4-yard run by Kamryn Pettway.


Auburn failed to get a first down on its opening possession of the second quarter but the defense responded with another stop. Right tackle Darius James was injured midway through the second quarter and replaced by Casey Dunn, who came it at center with Austin Golson moving to right tackle. Auburn's possession ended on a fumble by Eli Stove on the AU 27-yard line, the Tigers' second turnover of the game. Mercer got on the board with a 21-yard field goal. Auburn drove 66 yards on its next possession before Pettway fumbled at the 9-yard line, the third turnover of the half. AU's defense forced another 3-and-out and the offense drove 44 yards for a 29-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson. Mercer had just 97 yards of offense in the first half.


Auburn's defense came up with a stop to open the second half but Ryan Davis fumbled on the punt return, AU's fourth turnover of the game. Mercer attempted a fake field goal but Stephen Roberts made the stop at the 22-yard line, short of the first down. AU responded with a 10-play, 78-yard drive as Pettway scored from nine yards out from the Wildcat. AU's defense came up with another stop but Stidham threw an interception to end the next drive, Auburn's fifth turnover of the game.


Mercer drove 83 yards, scoring on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Kaelan Riley to Marquise Irvin to cut Auburn's lead to 17-10. Carlson missed a 26-yard field goal on AU's next drive, keeping it a one-score game. But AU's defense forced another 3-and-out and the offense drove 41 yards with Pettway scoring on a 4-yard run.
