FIFA sets 6 World Cup 2026 matches in Philadelphia as US celebrates 250th anniversary

The world will be part of Philadelphia's celebration of America's 250th anniversary when it hosts the largest sporting event in the summer of 2026.

FIFA, soccer's governing body, on Sunday released the dates of World Cup matches that will be held in Philadelphia as the city celebrates the country's semiquincentennial.

This will be the first time the first men's tournament is split among multiple countries, with games in the United States, Canada and Mexico, across 16 venues. It will kick off on June 11 in Mexico City. The first game in the United States will be at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The slate of games in Philadephia includes a Round of 16 match that is scheduled for July 4.

Along with the Fourth of July game, FIFA announced five other matches scheduled to be played at Lincoln Financial Field in South Philly. These include:

  • Group Stage: June 14, 2026

  • Group Stage: June 19, 2026

  • Group Stage: June 22, 2026

  • Group Stage: June 25, 2026

  • Group Stage: June 27, 2026

How much are World Cup tickets?

While tickets prices are not available yet, fútbol fans can register for tickets by visiting fifa.com.

Metlife Stadium

Along with Philadelphia, neighboring New Jersey will host games the World Cup finals at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, North Jersey.

It will be held on July 19, 2026.

In addition to the final, MetLife will host five group stage matches as well as one in the Round of 32 and one in the Round of 16.

  • June 13, 2026

  • June 16, 2026

  • June 22, 2026

  • June 25, 2026

  • June 27, 2026

Elimination games:

  • Round of 32 - June 30, 2026

  • Round of 16 - July 5, 2026

  • Final - July 19, 2026

Along with Philadelphia, here are the other host cities in the U.S. in 2026:

  • Boston

  • Dallas

  • Houston

  • Kansas City

  • Los Angeles

  • Miami

  • New York/New Jersey

  • San Francisco Bay Area

  • Seattle.

1994 World Cup

This will be the first time FIFA has hosted matches in the U.S. since the 15th World Cup in 1994.

The finals were held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, where Brazil beat Italy 2-3 in a penalty shootout.

Matches were played in nine U.S. cities, including East Rutherford, New Jersey.
