Ferris State continues to run through GLIAC; Albion outlasts Hope on FG

Jared Bernhardt rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns as Ferris State, No. 1 in Division II, cruised by Davenport, 50-14, on Saturday in Caledonia.

Bernhardt, the former Maryland lacrosse star, scored on runs of 9 and 33 yards in the first quarter. After Davenport's third straight three-and-out to open the game, Tyler Minor (nine carries, 30 yards) scored a 12-yard TD run to give the Bulldogs a 20-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Ferris State (9-0, 6-0 GLIAC) extended its lead when Marcus Taylor returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown to make it 27-0.

Jake Jensen was just 5-for-19 for 64 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers (3-7, 2-4), who were held to just 94 total yards and six first downs. Davenport had to punt 12 times.

Bernhardt was 9-for-15 for 73 yards and an interception. He also had a 44-yard TD run early in the third quarter.

Grand Valley State 62, Wayne State 13: Cade Peterson was 15-for-24 for 218 yards passing and three touchdowns for the visiting Lakers (8-1, 6-1). He also ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns as the Lakers outscored the Warriors (2-8, 2-4) 27-3 in the second quarter. Kendall Williams had 63 yards rushing and a touchdown for Wayne State.

Michigan Tech 34, Northwood 0: Jared Smith had 21 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown for the visiting Huskies (5-4, 4-2). Erik Santiago had 12 tackles and Brendan Price added 11 for Northwood (1-8, 0-6).

Saginaw Valley State 33, Northern Michigan 21: Tommy Scott ran for 98 yards and a touchdown as the Cardinals (7-3, 4-2) overcame a 15-point deficit to score 27 straight points to close out the game. Tyquan Cox rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown and Drake Davis had two TD passes for NMU (3-7, 1-5).

MIAA

Albion 41, Hope 38: Jack Bush was 21-for-30 for 365 yards passing and four touchdowns for visiting Albion (9-1, 4-1 MIAA). Phillip Jones-Price added 108 yards rushing and a touchdown and Jackson Cooney's 36-yard field goal with 5:09 remaining gave Albion the lead for good. Elijah Smith had 21 carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns for Hope (6-2, 4-1).

Olivet 35, Adrian 28: Cortaveon Barnett had 27 carries for 222 yards and two touchdowns for visiting Olivet (6-3, 3-3). Barnett also had two catches for 64 yards and a TD. Jack Wurzer was 17-for-30 for 257 yards and three touchdowns for Adrian (4-5, 2-3).

Trine (Ind.) 37, Alma 23: Alex Price had 134 yards passing and two touchdowns for visiting Trine (5-3, 3-1). Jack Kretzschmar had a 19-yard interception return for a touchdowns for Alma (5-3, 1-3).
