Fennessy grabs big lead at NH Women's Amateur
Jul. 31—Cochecho Country Club's Carys Fennessy shot a blistering 4-under par 68 Monday in the opening round of the New Hampshire Women's Amateur Championship to take an eight-shot lead heading into Round 2 at Montcalm Golf Club in Enfield.
Fennessy recorded seven birdies during her opening round 68.
Breakfast Hill Golf Club's Amy Dickison carded a 4-over 76 in Round 1 and sits eight shots behind Fennessy.
Defending champion Julianna Megan of Hoodkroft Country Club and Delaney Nadeau of Cochecho Country Club are tied for third at 7-over.
Rounding out the top 10 are Abenaqui Country Club's Tracey Marshall (9-over 81), Lydia Tufts of Candia Oaks (9-over 81), Sky Meadow Country Club's Pareena Deva (10-over 82), Beaver Meadow Golf Course's Mady Savary (10-over 82), North Conway Country Club's Julie Rivers (10-over 82) and Kat Bordeau of Hanover Country Club Online (11-over, 83).
Round 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, with the third and final round scheduled Wednesday.
