Most fantasy players and sports fans alike weren’t prepared for the bombshell news that arrived on Friday. In a move that came virtually out of the blue, the 2-3-1 Cleveland Browns traded starting running back Carlos Hyde to the 3-3 Jacksonville Jaguars. The Browns received a fifth-round pick in exchange.
Trade season, it seems, is officially upon us.
Now, this trade undoubtedly will have huge reverberations around the league as a whole, but the fantasy community definitely had a lot to say about the big move.
The moment the trade was announced, speedy players ran to the waiver wire to grab who many assumed would inherit the starting job in Cleveland, Nick Chubb:
I literally just sprinted to my phone to add Chubb in 9 different leagues

Not everyone was so lucky, though. Some players were too little, too late. Others may have been on the wrong side of a regretful, yet forward-thinking decision:
Dropped him yesterday for tre’quan Smith 🤣

Some players have owned Chubb from the beginning, but impatience can set in nearly seven full weeks into the season:

Of course, on the other side of the equation, things have gotten a bit muddled at the RB position in Jacksonville:
Lmao my roommate now owns ALL of the Jags RBs. Its like when Thanos got all of the infinity stones and could rule the universe except the opposite of that 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/yQQRx0HI6W

And just as Leonard Fournette owners are wondering what this trade means for them, some are left with some…interesting roster choices:
My RBs are a mess. Now I have Bell, Connor, Fornette, Yeldon, and Chubb. pic.twitter.com/M7NIK9t9jT
