What might have been an early season opportunity for FC Cincinnati to prove itself against Seattle Sounders FC, one of the best clubs in Major League Soccer, has been moved to the latter stages of the 2022 schedule.
FC Cincinnati on Wednesday announced that its previously-scheduled April 9 match against Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field was rescheduled for 10 p.m. ET kickoff Sept. 27.
The game was scheduled to accommodate Seattle, which will play New York City FC in a two-game semifinal series in the Concacaf Champions League.
Seattle and New York will contest their semifinal matches April 6 in Seattle and April 13 in Harrison, New Jersey, which put FC Cincinnati's April 9 date with the Sounders in the middle of the Champions League fray.
FC Cincinnati's trip to Seattle will be the club's first since its first-ever MLS match, which was played March 2, 2019, and ended in a 4-1 win for the Sounders.
