Fantasy FaceOff Week 2 - Kirk Cousins vs. Derek Carr

Kirk Cousins or Derek Carr: Which QB will be the better play in Week 2?

Video Transcript

- I'm going to start with you, Tank. Why do you like Derek Carr over Cousins this week?

[MUSIC PLAYING]

- All right. Well, first, let's both say that this is probably going to be one of those Blake Bortles games, where you plug these quarterbacks in that don't look until like the game is over and just try to see what kind of stats they gave you. But if I have to go with Derek Carr, I'm just saying this, like, the dude threw for the most passing yards in the league in week one.

I mean, the Raiders offense actually looked good. He looked like he had one of the best players in the league on his offense because he does, Darren Waller. And he's going to actually-- have to actually throw the ball a little bit more because Josh Jacobs is going to be out. So I understand that he has to face T.J. Watt. But at least he's a little bit mobile.

Kirk Cousins has to go against that monster, Chandler Jones. And Cousins can't run like that. So given the fact that Carr is more athletic, has thrown for more yards than Kirk Cousins in this young league, and, like, I just feel like he's going into this game with a little bit more confidence. I'm a lean slightly to Derek Carr.

- Yeah. Well, speaking of some of the league's best players. Cousins is at least throwing to two of them, right? He's got Justin Jefferson on his side. He's got Adam Thielen on his side. By the way, whenever the touchdown regression is going to start for Thielen, it wasn't in week one. It may not be in week two either.

I just feel like the game script here is going to follow last week. They fell behind. And Cousins needed to chuck it. And that ended up being a pretty good thing for fantasy purposes. He goes over 300 yards. This is a guy who threw 35 touchdown passes last year. He was a bankable late season play for you.

So I have a slight lean to Cousins in this one. Again, I think the pass attempts here are probably going to be north of 40-45, something like that. And that is almost invariably a good thing for Cousins.
