Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Grab one of these multi-position players

Today, we begin with a small collection of players who offer multi-position fantasy eligibility, because such guys are essential in any sort of deep-ish, competitive league. Stash one or more on your roster and it's basically like playing with an expanded bench.

You wouldn't wander out into the wilderness without a reliable multi-tool, would you? Heck, no. So don't try to take down your 12-team 6X6 roto league without one of these guys.

Ezequiel Duran, 2B/3B/SS, Texas Rangers (29%)

Duran entered the season as a consensus top-100 prospect, then backed it up by slashing .317/.365/.574 with seven homers and seven steals over his first 200 plate appearances at Double-A. He was called up by the Rangers in early June, shortly after his 23rd birthday, and he's remained a tough out.

Duran is batting .319 in 12 games for Texas with eight runs scored, eight RBIs, six extra-base hits and two steals. As his team heads into a weekend series with Detroit, he's working on a six-game hitting streak. Duran offers all-category potential and he's available in over two-thirds of Yahoo leagues.

Brendan Donovan, 2B/3B/SS/OF, St. Louis Cardinals (39%)

It feels as if pretty much every Donovan at-bat ends this way:

He's absolutely scorching hot these days, piling up multi-hit games. Donovan has gone 13-for-21 with seven runs scored and five RBIs over his last five, which of course is ridiculous. He's now hitting .341 and getting himself on-base at a .448 clip.

Every year, the Cardinals seem to manifest a dude like this.

Donovan slashed .304/.399/.455 in 108 games last season across three minor league levels with a dozen homers and 19 steals. No, he probably won't finish the season hitting .340-something, but he's clearly a useful piece.

Jon Berti, 2B/3B/OF, Miami Marlins (34%)

You shouldn't need a hard sell on a guy who's swiped 10 bags over his last 13 games. Steals are a bit of a fantasy nightmare, but Berti has been a bankable source. He's also hitting a career-best .279 with a .385 OBP, so he's not the sort of stolen base threat who wrecks you in every other category.

(At least not yet. I actually just traded for Berti in N.L.-only, which may portend a slump. Apologies.)

When a player is running at a rate like this, someone in almost every fantasy league should be interested.

Amed Rosario, SS/OF, Cleveland Guardians (37%)

As soon as the calendar flipped to June, Rosario began to rake. He's 20-for-53 so far this month with five extra-base hits and three steals. He's batting second for the Guardians, immediately ahead of Jose Ramirez, in a prime run-scoring spot. Cleveland has been aggressive on the base paths thus far, so it's reasonable to hope for 20 or more steals from Rosario, assuming good health.

Luke Voit, 1B, San Diego Padres (42%)

OK, we'll finally break from the multi-position players to highlight a mauler who's been launching bombs. Voit has homered three times in his last five games, and these blasts aren't wall-scrapers:

You'll recall that Voit led MLB in homers during the 2020 mini-season, so there's nothing fluky about the power surge. He's a well-established crusher of baseballs. The Pads are in Colorado over the weekend, which makes this a fine time to give Voit a test drive.

Oneil Cruz, SS, Pittsburgh Pirates (34%)

Cruz ranks among the best prospects remaining in the minors and the Pirates are running out of business-of-baseball reasons to keep him in Triple-A. He's a power/speed combo player who's already launched nine homers at Indianapolis and stolen 11 bags.

Cruz is a gigantic human (6-foot-7, 220) with enormous power upside. Whenever he gets the call, he'll be a must-add fantasy asset and an excellent potential trade chip. Add him now, ahead of the rush.
