It's an intriguing thought.
Houston is reportedly looking to trade its star edge rusher and according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Seattle is on Clowney's short list of potential destinations.
Seattle's pass-rush has been an area of concern since trading top sack man Frank Clark to the Chiefs in April. Trading for Clowney, who has been named to the last three Pro Bowls, will certainly come at a price, but is it one the Seahawks are willing to pay?
Seahawks Insider Joe Fann ran a poll on Twitter to see if fans would want Seattle to pull the trigger on a Clowney trade if it would cost the Seahawks a 2020 first-round pick, or a 2020 second-round pick, plus a player like Germain Ifedi or Rashaad Penny. Fans were well, divided.
59 percent of the people who voted as of Wednesday evening did think the Seahawks should go all in on acquiring Clowney, 41 percent did not.
Fans also had some strong opinions on the possibility of this trade. Here's a few:
Clowney is great, but are we one rusher away from a title? No, I don't think we are. Too many questions in the secondary.
However, if we can trade and sign him to a 3-year extension, then yes.

Either option 100%
They have an extra 2nd from the chiefs to make a move up if needed in the 2020 draft. You'll have the added advantage of signing him to a long term deal & if he is only a one year rental, you'd recoup a 3rd round compensatory pick if he signed elsewhere.

That would be terrible trade for the hawks. Anything more than a 2nd outright would be a steal for Texans. If they trade Penny as part of a package it has to lower draft value to 4-5th rounder or even less.

Clowney is certainly a desired player. The 26-year-old pass-rusher finished the 2018 season with 47 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He has a total of 53 tackles for loss over the past three seasons, third in the NFL.
Clowney digs the Seahawks and the Seahawks could use a new pass-rusher. Is Clowney their man? We will discover his next landing spot soon enough.
