Falcons' 'Roundball Rock' touchdown celebration was perfect

The Atlanta Falcons opened up their brand-new Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a nine-play, 86-yard touchdown drive that ended with a Devonta Freeman touchdown. Impressive but not remarkable. Freeman, with the help of guard Andy Levitre, then executed a brilliant little celebration: a jump shot that would do Steph Curry proud.

But as NBC cut to break, brilliance became perfection. A quick-thinking producer somewhere dug up a bit of NBA-appropriate music, as you can hear:

(Very Marv Albert voice) Yes!

If you’re of a certain age, that music—the theme to the old “NBA on NBC”—brings you right back to Sundays in the 1990s, watching Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Shawn Kemp, and Karl Malone torch the NBA. Entitled “Roundball Rock” and composed by none other than John Tesh, it’s absolute ’90s musical perfection, the apex of what sports theme music can possibly be, and we will accept no other answers.

No matter who wins Sunday night’s game, NBC gets the MVP vote.
