The Atlanta Falcons made a handful of moves on Monday, signing 13 undrafted free agents, releasing three players and announcing their decision on the team’s two fifth-year option candidates.

Here’s a quick rundown of the day’s transactions.

Falcons cut Mike Davis, Willie Beavers and James Vaughters

Linebacker James Vaughters, running back Mike Davis and offensive lineman Willie Beavers were released by the Falcons Monday afternoon. Additionally, the team placed punter Beau Brinkley on injured reserve.

Davis’ release was somewhat expected as it frees up $2.5 million, but Vaughters played well down the stretch last season and was going to cost less than $1 million this year. Nonetheless, Atlanta is clearing the necessary space to sign its rookie draft class.

Falcons pick up Chris Lindstrom's 5th-year option

This was always a no-brainer, but the Falcons had to get their finances together and the Matt Ryan trade took priority for them this offseason. Chris Lindstrom is now in Atlanta until 2023, and likely several years after that if the team is smart.

Falcons decline RT Kaleb McGary's fifth-year option

This move was also somewhat expected since the Falcons since Lindstrom was the more productive of the two 2019 first-round picks. McGary still has work to do before he proves to be the long-term answer at right tackle, although the team didn’t add any legit competition through the draft. Atlanta waited until the sixth round to draft Georgia guard Justin Shaffer.
