Fake trade has Sixers acquiring Duncan Robinson from Heat in a deal

As the Philadelphia 76ers head into the offseason, they know they need to make some upgrades to their roster in order to properly contend in the East. The Boston Celtics are coming off an incredible run to the finals so the Sixers will have to try and overcome them as well as the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat.

The Sixers do not have a ton of money to play with in free agency and therefore, the trade route would probably have to be the way to improve this team.

Philadelphia is already in the midst of shopping guys like Danny Green, Tobias Harris, the No. 23 pick in the 2022 draft, and others in order to upgrade the roster.

A fake trade performed by The Rights to Ricky Sanchez has the Sixers calling up the Heat and acquiring Duncan Robinson in a deal.

The fake trade proposal

Heat get: Danny Green, Furkan Korkmaz, 2023 second round pick

Sixers get: Duncan Robinson

The Rights to Ricky Sanchez on why the Sixers do this deal

Robinson‘s contract is a tough pill to swallow, and would certainly become a constant topic of discussion in Philadelphia. But for a team that’s hoping to contend, it’s worth overpaying for a player who fills an obvious need. Robinson’s off-ball movement would give the Sixers a much needed layer of unpredictability to their offense, something that they lacked after trading away Seth Curry at the deadline. If there’s one thing Joel Embiid loves, it’s having a shooter to work the dribble hand-off game with, and Robinson would certainly provide some of that.

Analyzing the deal from a Sixers standpoint

Robinson was obviously benched during the playoffs as he wasn’t able to get into any type of groove on the offensive end outside of Game 1 of Round 1 and he had a tough time on the defensive end. However, he fills a huge need for Philadelphia, and playing next to Harden should do wonders for his game.

The contract is certainly an eyesore, but he shot 44.6% from deep in the 2019-20 season, 40.8% in the 2020-21 season, and 37.2% in 2021-22. While that is not a great trend to read, there is a great chance that number goes back up playing next to Harden who helped Tobias Harris become a 40% 3-point shooter and Tyrese Maxey shot 48% from deep when they played with Harden.

A guy like Robinson would help spread the floor in a big way and make life easier for the stars out on the floor They can also hide him on the defensive end.
