Faith Christian beaten in SJS Division-VI final

Feb. 23—Faith Christian School girls basketball team's bid at a back-to-back Sac-Joaquin Section Division-VI championship fell short Friday after second-seeded Sacramento Adventist outscored Faith Christian, 17-11 in the fourth to upend the top-seed, 54-49 in the D-VI final played at UC Davis.

Faith Christian ends the SJS portion of its season at 25-5. Northern California Regional brackets are released Sunday. FCHS is likely to earn a spot in the D-VI bracket.

Lauren Harris, Faith Christian's best player and one of the premier shooters in the division, dropped 28, but just five in the fourth quarter as SAA overtook Faith Christian to win and snap a five-game slide to the Lions.

Gwen Rosich led the Capitals (25-6) with 21 points.

Harris, just a sophomore, joins several players on the Faith Christian roster with multiple chances to again claim a SJS flag. The team has six sophomores and two freshmen. Presley Berry, the team's second-best player and perhaps top inside presence, returns for her junior season in 2024-25. Berry averaged a double-double and nearly three blocks per contest for Faith Christian through 29 games recorded.
