Fairport girls bowling team 10th at D-II state bowling

Mar. 4—The Fairport girls bowling team placed 10th at Division II state tournament March 2 at HP Lanes.

In the qualifying rounds, the Skippers had scores of 788 in Game 1, 824 in Game 2 and 816 in Game 3 for a 2,428. In the Baker round, Fairport had scores of 172 in the first Baker, then a 158 and 142 for a 472. The Skippers' 2,900 was 130 from the eighth and last qualifying spot for the championship round.

In the individual competition, Fairport's Jillian Justinger was fifth with a 598 and scores of 214, 200 and 184. Carrollton's Kaylee Russell (665) was the state champion.

Other scorers for the Skippers were Sophia McLaughlin (510), Andrea McKinny (471) and Mackenzie Pilny (463).

Wickliffe's Shelby Childress bowled a 457 series.

At the boys D-II state tournament, NDCL's Dakota McPadden was the area's lone qualifier. The senior was 39th with a 571 series with games of 192, 215 and 164.
