Extra Point: Stockton Kings advance in G League playoffs

STOCKTON, Calif. (KTXL) – The Stockton Kings are the No. 1 seed in the NBA G League’s Western Conference. With that came a first-round bye, and a home playoff game in the conference semifinals.

The Kings will now also receive a home game in the conference finals.

Behind 25 points from Stanley Johnson and 20 points and 12 assists from Mason Jones, Stockton beat Santa Cruz on Thursday night, 112-109.

“We can’t use the past to predict the future all the time,” said Johnson. “We have to come game by game, and as the No. 1 seed everybody wants to play us and everybody’s gonna play well. So, I’m excited. I think we’re all excited. We’re super excited to be here.”

There were 15 lead changes in this game, none more important than a basket from the corner by Jones with eleven seconds left. It turned out to be the game-winner.

“I wasn’t living up to how I have been playing all year and who I was supposed to be,” said Jones. “So I just knew that I had time to come through for my team and that was all I was thinking about, not letting my team down.”
