DraftKings

Russell Knox (8,100) - Starting things off with a steady striker, Knox was 3rd in SG Approach last week at the Sony.

Matthew Wolff ($9,000) - A bit overpriced for his expected output but Wolff is a Cali native and has the top-heavy finish appeal that we like for GPPs.

J.T. Poston ($8,500) - Finished T7 here last year with four sub-70 rounds and is warmed up after a couple of starts in Hawaii.

Brian Harman ($8,600) - Mentioned him in the DFS Dish yesterday. He's playing great golf right now and never shies away from a good birdie-fest shootout.

Chez Reavie ($8,000) - Getting back to desert golf, Reavie should be in his comfort zone this week. It's showed with four straight top 40s at this event.

Andrew Putnam ($7,800) - Roared out of the gate last week but stumbled over the weekend. The Pepperdine product will look to get back on track on the West Coast where he was born and raised.

Total salary: 50,000

FanDuel

Paul Casey ($11,400): Making his second start at this event (with the current course setup). He opened 67-69-71 in 2017 before fading to 75 on Sunday. This Scottsdale resident should be comfortable on the overseeded turf this week.

Russell Knox (9,500): Finished T29 here in 2018 and T18 last year.

Charles Howell III (10,500): He's been better than the field average in 15-of-16 rounds played on the current set of courses.

J.T. Poston (9,800): Finished T7 here last year and now he arrives as a PGA TOUR winner.

Bud Cauley (8700): Missed the cut last week and also missed the cut here last year. That should leave him under-owned but his three previous starts at the Amex were all top 15s.

Andrew Putnam (9600): The Washington native is one of the best putters on TOUR which comes in handy on a week like this where birdies are flying off the shelf.

Yahoo DFS

Scott Piercy (34): This Vegas resident is comfortable on a desert track. He finished T6 here in 2018.

Chez Reavie (39): Sluggish in Hawaii but he's finished T17, T12, T36, and T28 over his last four starts at the Amex.

Nate Lashley (39): Sticking with the Desert Dog theme, Lashley has Arizona ties and has played very well here in a small sample.

Russell Knox (35): Finished T18 here last year despite an opening 73.

Talor Gooch (20): He's the min-priced value play that allows me to overpay for some of the names above.

Brian Harman (33): Finished top 20 in his first three tries at the current course rota before missing the cut last year. I like his chances to jump back into contention.

One-and-Done

Each week I will think out loud about my process in determining my One-and-Done selection. If you are new to the One-and-Done format, it is like an NFL survivor league. You pick one golfer per week, but you can't use them again all year.

The courses used this week have been implemented since 2016 so we have four years to work with. Let's see who has played well at PGA WEST over the last four years:

Phil Mickelson (T3, T21, MC, T2)
Adam Long (WIN)
Lucas Glover (T17, T41, T29, T12)
Charles Howell III (T11, T12, T20, T34)
Talor Gooch (T67, 4th)
Chez Reavie (T17, T12, T36, T28)
Dominic Bozzelli (5th, MC, 5th)
Bud Cauley (T14, T3, T14, MC)
Andrew Landry (MC, RUNNER-UP, T28)
Brendan Steele (T34, T6, T20, T57)
Vaughn Taylor (MC, T41, MC, T7)
Jason Kokrak (MC, T8, T18)
Hudson Swafford (T56, WIN, T29, T65)
Kevin Streelman (T11, MC, T29, T34)
Nate Lashley (T29, T12)
Michael Thompson (T28, MC, T9)
Nick Taylor (MC, T34, T20, T40)
Russell Knox (T29, T18)
J.T. Poston (T34, MC, T7)
Zach Johnson (MC, MC, T20, T28)

Now let's look at baseline performance over the last year. This will give us a good feel for who should pop regardless of past course results:

Paul Casey
Rickie Fowler
Billy Horschel
Jason Kokrak
Byeong Hun An
Sungjae Im
Tony Finau
Charles Howell III
Scottie Scheffler
Vaughn Taylor
Lucas Glover
Rory Sabbatini
Francesco Molinari
Kevin Kisner
Russell Knox
Abraham Ancer
J.T. Poston
Denny McCarthy
Andrew Putnam
Bud Cauley

The overlap list includes Charles Howell III, Lucas Glover, Jason Kokrak, Bud Cauley, Russell Knox, and J.T. Poston

In a perfect world I would have CH3 still available to use but I picked him at the Mayakoba.

I don't want to take a flyer on Glover or Kokrak off a holiday break.

Instead, I'll take the consistent course performer who is still looking for his first win on TOUR. Bud Cauley
