Exeter defeats Muhlenberg, High Point falls in District 3 boys basketball playoffs

No. 10 seed Exeter defeated No. 11 seed Muhlenberg in a District 3 Class 5A boys basketball consolation semifinal Monday night at Reiffton.

Junior Brady Murray scored a game-high 18 points off of six 3-pointers for the Eagles (17-9). Murray had 12 points in the first half as Exeter held a 43-37 lead at halftime.

The Eagles outscored the Muhls 27-3 in the third. All-Berks senior Kevin Saenz scored 15 points and had four in the third quarter for Exeter.

Sophomore Aidan Dauble finished with 11 points and senior Alex Kelsey had 10 for the Eagles.

Freshman Justin Armstrong scored a team-high 16 points and made four 3-pointers for Muhlenberg. Senior Alex Collado scored 12 and had 10 in the first half for the Muhls (15-11).

With the win, the Eagles advance and will play at No. 9 seed Warwick in the District 3 Class 5A fifth-place game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Muhlenberg will play at No. 5 seed Manheim Central in the seventh-place game at Doe Run Elementary on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Both Exeter and Muhlenberg have already qualified for the PIAA playoffs.

Greenwood 50, High Point 47

No. 7 seed High Point fell to No. 6 seed Greenwood in a District 3 Class 1A boys basketball consolation semifinal on Monday night at Millerstown.

With the loss to Greenwood (16-7), the Eagles (17-7) will play at Lancaster County Christian in the third-place game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
