Jonathan Arauz has found a new home after being designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

The Baltimore Orioles announced Wednesday they've claimed the 23-year-old infielder off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk.

Arauz made his MLB debut with the Red Sox in 2020. The Panama native slashed .204/.280/.320 with four homers and 18 RBI in three seasons (59 games) with Boston.

The Philadelphia Phillies originally signed Arauz as an international free agent in 2014. He was traded to the Houston Astros in 2015 along with reliever Ken Giles and spent four years in their minor league system before joining the Red Sox via the 2019 Rule 5 Draft.
