Ex-NBA forward Davis faces drug charges

Former NBA player Glen "Big Baby" Davis faces a court appearance in early April after he was arrested in a Maryland hotel on drug possession and distribution charges, according to a report from WMAR-TV in Baltimore.

Davis, 32, was indicted on seven counts of drug possession and distribution after a Hampton Inn franchise owner called police Feb. 7 and said he smelled marijuana coming from a room. Police said they found 126 grams of marijuana and a briefcase containing $92,164 in cash when they searched Davis' room. They also found a ledger containing names and money owed "consistent with someone involved in the sale and distribution of narcotics."

Davis' attorney told the TV station that his client maintains his innocence. He plans to fight the charges in court.

The 6-foot-9, 289-pound power forward spent eight seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds in 514 regular-season games and appeared in 96 postseason contests.
