Ex-Florida State receiver Tamorrion Terry indicted on felony murder charge in 2018 shooting
Ex-Florida State wide receiver Tamorrion Terry is among 11 individuals who last week were indicted by a Georgia grand jury on charges related to the killing of a 21-year-old woman in a June 2018 shooting at a night club in Ashburn, Georgia.
As first reported by the Miami Herald, the victim, Za’Quavia Smith, was among at least seven people who were shot at Studio 2.0 nightclub.
Days after the incident, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested then-17-year-old Jontavious Coley and charged him with felony murder and aggravated assault, stating that Coley was one of multiple people who fired multiple rounds into a crowd of fleeing people.
Until now, only Coley has remained in custody.
But according to a Turner County Superior Court document obtained by the Tallahassee Democrat, Terry and nine others have been indicted along with Coley for the crime.
Terry, 23, and the other co-defendants have been charged with felony murder, a charge applicable when a death, even accidental, occurs in the commission of a felony.
Terry played for the Seminoles from 2018-20 after redshirting his first year. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in May but was waived by the team on Wednesday.
Terry played in 31 games for Florida State, finishing with 118 receptions for 2,221 yards and 18 touchdowns during his career.
