Evo 2017 main tournament games revealed, fans can vote for last game tournament

The main games for this year’s Evolution Champion Series have been revealed.

Evo tournament organizer Joey “MrWizard” Cuellar announced the games on a Redbull Esports Twitch stream hosted by fighting games commentator Mike Ross. The following eight games will feature at Evo 2017:

  • Street Fighter V

  • Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev 2 (PS4)

  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

  • Super Smash. Bros Melee

  • Injustice 2

  • BlazBlue: Centralfiction

  • Tekken 7

  • King of Fighters XIV

Notably, BlazBlue: Centralfiction returns after an absence from recent Evo tournaments 2015 and 2016.

There will also be a ninth game tournament, which will be decided by fan votes via donations. All proceeds will go towards charity. Donations are open now and will close in two weeks. Fans can vote for the following games:

Evo 2017 is scheduled to take place on July 14-16 at the Mandalay Bay in Vegas. The event was previously hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center in its first two days, with finals day moving to the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Registration and arena tickets for the event will open tonight at 7:30PM PT at the Evo website.

By comparison, Evo 2016 featured nine games in its official tournament line-up, which included Street Fighter 5, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, Mortal Kombat X, Pokkén Tournament, Killer Instinct, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.
