After an awkward hit into the boards during Monday's game against the New York Islanders, Evgeny Kuznetsov exited the game and was listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

He will miss Thursday's game against the Colorado Avalanche, head coach Todd Reirden said Wednesday.

However, Kuznetsov will still travel with the Caps for a three-game road trip out West, so it's possible he may return for Saturday's game against the Arizona Coyotes and/or Monday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

As previously reported, Lars Eller is expected to take over at center for Kuzy on the second line, moving Travis Boyd to the third.
