Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke to reporters on a Zoom call Thursday to address his mindset on the season opener. There still seem to be a plethora of burning questions for Sarkisian.

No. 21 Texas will be taking on No. 23 Louisiana on Sept. 4. The Longhorns will be tested right off the bat, as the Ragin’ Cajuns are fresh off a 10-1 season that included a win over Iowa State.

As the new coach, Sarkisian has been tasked with resurrecting a program that was once at the peak of college football glory and has been on a mission to get back for over a decade.

He inherited a very talented team, even with the losses of key players like quarterback Sam Ehlinger, pass rusher Joseph Ossai, and left tackle Samuel Cosmi. Sarkisian has to find their successors and up until recently all of the starters were decided except for the quarterback spot.

In a position battle that Sarkisian said was the toughest he had ever been apart of, redshirt freshman Hudson Card beat out Junior Casey Thompson for the starting job. This has has left many people questioning what Thompson’s role with the team will be in the Week 1 matchup against Louisiana, among many other concerns.

Let’s take a look at everything Sarkisian said on Thursday.
