This weekend was the busiest 2023 has offered LSU fans thus far.

On Friday night, gymnastics hosted three teams in the Baton Rouge River Center, including a couple of top-25 squads.

There was football buzz, too. Former LSU players traveled to Indianapolis for the combine and future LSU players arrived in Baton Rouge for a busy weekend of recruiting.

LSU building steam with blue-chip receiver

One of the recruits on hand over the weekend was Jelani Watkins, a four-star wide receiver from Texas.

LSU must have made a strong impression. 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong entered a Crystal Ball prediction for LSU and the Tigers now lead in On3’s prediction machine too.

Watkins recently earned an offer to run track at LSU too.

LSU signed a strong group of receivers last cycle and already has one committed in 2024, but the addition of Watkins, who’s ranked a top 100 overall player by 247 and ESPN, would be huge.
