Still no love? ESPN has Giants behind Dodgers in power rankings originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The absolute last thing on the mind of the Giants is where they rank in MLB power rankings.

I promise you, they could not care less.

For a team that has been doubted and under-appreciated all season long, it should come as no surprise that a new set of rankings has them outside of the number one spot.

ESPN released their latest power rankings for all 30 MLB teams on Thursday. The Giants -- who have owned the best record in baseball for most of the season, and have a two-and-a-half game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West -- came in second to Los Angeles in those rankings.

"There is a monster out west, it is the Los Angeles Dodgers," host Karl Ravech said on ESPN's "Sunday Night Countdown" show. "(Run-differential) of over +200, nobody is even close. They start, they close, they hit, they manage, they've won a World Series. Can you make a case there is a team better suited for the stretch run than them?"

The Giants claim the number two spot in ESPN's rankings for the second week in a row. Ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays (3) and the Milwaukee Brewers (4), both Los Angeles and San Francisco have claimed the number one spot more than any other teams this season.

Wednesday afternoon the Giants were the first team in all of baseball to win their 90th game of the season. A Dodgers loss Thursday afternoon to the St. Louis Cardinals, paired with an off day for the Giants, increased their NL West lead to two-and-a-half games.

Doubted by most throughout the season, the Giants will look to continue to prove their critics wrong in what will be a heated chase with the Dodgers for the division crown.
