ESPN’s BPI prediction gives Gators narrow margin of victory vs Rebels

Florida basketball hits the road to take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday night inside SJB Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi, for the Gators’ second Southeastern Conference matchup of the schedule.

Using the Basketball Power Index, ESPN is giving Florida 55.5% odds to come out on top by a projected 1.5 points. The matchup quality earned an 86.8-point grade, putting it in the top quarter of the games being played that night.

“BPI is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of performance going forward,” the site reads. “BPI represents how many points above or below average a team is… Game predictions account for opponent strength, pace of play, site, travel distance, day’s rest and altitude, and are used to simulate the season 10,000 times to produce season projections.”

The game will be of the Quadrant 1 for Florida, which enters the matchup ranked No. 49 in the NET, while the Rebels are playing a Quad 2 game are No. 68 coming in.

Tipoff for Florida at Ole Miss is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
