England’s team could face both disruption and temptation in Kaliningrad tomorrow night, because their hotel is positioned next to a strip club in the centre of the city.

There is a further complication as the hotel is also close to the city’s main square, meaning they will hear English and other revellers drinking and rabble-rousing late into the evening, and perhaps into the early hours of the morning.

The establishment is named the Maxim VIP “striptease club and strip bar” and one of the services it offers is the suspiciously termed, ‘erotic massages,’ until six in the morning. Anticipating business from the World Cup, there are an extra seven women employed, proof of a possibly stimulated economy.

Speaking on behalf of the club, a spokesman also told The Mirror: “Everyone knows the distinguishing feature of our club is touring girls from all over Russia and neighbouring countries.”

That’s in stark contrast to England’s hotel, which while it is next to a busy and potentially disruptive road full of lorries and busses, which boasts 178 rooms. The Mirror also asked the Radisson executive Alice Kokaya for comments on the noise pollution and how it might affect the Three Lions heroes:

“I’m afraid I cannot answer specific questions about their stay here.

“There are obviously confidentiality and security issues about guests. We are very much looking forward to welcoming the England team.”
