Canada won the title the last time the competition was hosted in America in 2016 with England finishing as runners-up, the same finish they managed 12 months previous.

The Red Roses will open their 2019 campaign against USA at the Chula Vista Elite Training Center on Friday, June 28 before playing Canada and France and then finishing with a clash against the world’s No 1-ranked side, New Zealand, on Sunday, July 14 at San Diego State University’s Torero Stadium.

The event will form part of the build-up towards the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2021.

“This year’s summer tour promises to be a fantastic competition and a tremendous opportunity in terms of the next stage of development for the Red Roses," said England head coach Simon Middleton.

“It brings together the top five women’s teams in the world in a unique situation where we will play all each other. Given the calibre of teams involved this will be the most competitive summer series we’ve been a part of to date and will form an important part of our preparation for the next Women’s Rugby World Cup. We will be looking to take our strongest squad to the USA for this series.”

England, who awarded full-time professional contracts to 28 players in January and are ranked second in the world, were the standout performers in the recent 2019 Women's Six Nations with their 80-0 demolition of Scotland in their final game at Twickenham last Saturday sealing a 14th Grand Slam. In four of their five games, they put 50-plus points on their opponents, the only exception being against fellow Super Series rivals France, who they beat 41-26.

Match timings and ticket information for the Women’s Rugby Super Series 2019 will be announced in due course. Fans can sign up to be included in USA Rugby’s event presale list at www.usarugby.org/tickets
