Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the New England Patriots:

Round 1 (No. 15 overall) - Mac Jones, QB, Alabama: A national champion passer falls to the six-time Super Bowl champions. Well neither is currently a fair comparison, Jones is far closer to the Tom Brady mold than the Cam Newton mold for a team in need of a long-term successor post-TB12. Pats coach Bill Belichick surely did his homework on Jones, who played for his close friend Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. Now it will be worth monitoring how New England designs an offense that's conducive to both Jones' abilities and Newton's. Draft tracker

Round 2 (38, from Bengals) - Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama: He wrecked Ohio State in the CFP national championship game, flashing his ability to clog running lanes and get to the quarterback up the gut. A three-down disruptor who should bring some needed athleticism to New England's front. The Pats gave up two fourth-rounders for the second-round swap with Cincy. Draft tracker

Round 3 (96, compensatory) - Ronnie Perkins, DE, Oklahoma: A productive, disruptive player, he stacked up 32 TFLs and 16½ sacks in three years for the Sooners. Looks like New England's D-line is suddenly looking imposing after Barmore's arrival earlier in the night. Draft tracker

Round 4 (120) - Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, Oklahoma

Round 5 (177, compensatory) - Cameron McGrone, LB, Michigan

Round 6 (188, from Texans) - Joshuah Bledsoe, S, Missouri

Round 6 (197) - William Sherman, OT, Colorado

Round 7 (242) - Trey Nixon, WR, Central Florida
