This is the ending of Netflix's You People explained

*Contains spoilers*

It's been a while since Netflix has dropped a new comedy film, so we were very excited with the release of You People last week.

The romantic comedy stars Jonah Hill as Ezra, a guy who works in finance and hosts a podcast, who falls in love with Amira (Lauren London) a stylist. The two quickly form a relationship, but when they start planning their wedding, the reality of their interracial relationship is put into focus when their two families meet.

Ezra's white Jewish family and Amira's Black Muslim family do not get along, despite efforts from the couple to bring them together. You People is full of classic rom-com moments as well as touching on clashing cultures, societal expectations and big generational divides.

But how does the film end? Do the pair end up walking happily down the aisle? Or will their families tear them apart?

If you were a little confused on the ending or need a refresher of what happened then this is the ending of You People explained.

What happens at the end of You People?

After what feels like months of tension between Ezra and Amira's father, Akbar, played by Eddie Murphy, and Amira and Ezra's mum Shelley, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the film reaches the point of the rehearsal dinner.

After a surprisingly semi-nice speech from Akbar, Ezra seeks him out to thank him, only to be told by Akbar he didn't actually mean it and doesn't want Ezra to marry his daughter, because he doesn't think he's the right guy for Amira.

Amira and Shelley then get to talking and Amira finally confronts Shelley about the way she's been treating her.

After their different conversations Amira and Ezra come together and agree that perhaps they're not actually meant to be. Yeah, we were crying too.

The couple split up and we see them get on with their own lives. Ezra tries to go on dates with new women and Amira is seen hanging out with her friends.

Ezra is then seen speaking on his podcast about how Black and white people can't ever truly understand each other's experience. His monologue is listened to by Akbar, who comes to realise he has made a mistake in his treatment of Ezra and immediately calls Shelley who has the same realisation about the way she treated Amira.

Shelley and Akbar then created a plan to bring Ezra and Amira together for a wedding, by both planning a trip to a boutique store. The two pairs run into each other outside the store and Shelley and Akbar apologise to Ezra and Amira.

The couple accept their in-laws apologies and they are brought inside the store which has been set up for their wedding. There's even an imam and a rabbi present for the wedding, symbolising the joining of their two cultures rather than their division.

Amira and Ezra tie the knot and the film ends with the whole wedding party dancing.
