An abandoned one-year-old dog, who was found emaciated and left in “terrible condition” in Malden, was reunited with Police after making a remarkable recovery.
On Wednesday, the Malden Police Department was “joyfully” reunited with a one-year-old Chihuahua that they had found in late July huddled in some bushes along the East Coast Greenway bike trail in Malden.
The pup, who now goes by Bailey, has been recovering at the Animal Rescue League of Boston and has made tremendous strides over the past two months, according to officials. Police say they are hopeful Bailey will be up for adoption in about a month.
Bailey suffered severe fur loss and his body was covered in scabs when he arrived at the clinic. The ARL says he was treated for Giardia, a parasitic illness that may further indicate that Bailey was previously living in unsanitary conditions.
The ARL says the dog “likely would not have survived had he not been found.”
Police continue to investigate the case.
