Eloy Jimenez could be due for huge second half

Drew Silva analyzes why the now-healthy Eloy Jimenez could be due for a second-half resurgence in fantasy production.

- It has been a very up and down year for the White Sox, and a lot of the downs could be traced to the absence of Eloy Jimenez, who missed all of May and June because of a ruptured hamstring that he suffered while running across the first base bag on April 23. Jimenez returned to Chicago's active roster on July 6, and went 2 for 5 with an RBI single and a 2-run homer in his first game back against the Twins.

It was a reminder to the rest of the American League Central that he can be among the premier sluggers in the sport when he is at full strength. Jimenez appeared in only 55 games in 2021 because of a torn pectoral muscle, and his number of games played in 2022 is obviously also going to be stunted. But the 25-year-old has averaged 38 home runs and 111 RBIs for every 162 games since breaking into the majors in 2019.

While sitting among the league leaders in average exit velocity, his career slugging percentage is just shy of .500. When he is healthy and connects, look for good things to happen for Eloy throughout the second half.
