Edgewater will play its fourth consecutive game at home this week as the new No. 1 team in the Sentinel Super 16 high school football rankings.

The Eagles (3-0) host No. 4 Jones (1-2) in a Class 3 Metro District 3 showdown Thursday. That game headlines a Week 4 slate marking the start of Florida High School Athletic Association district play.

Programs in Orange and Seminole counties play Thursday this week due to the Jewish Rosh Hashanah holiday, which begins Friday at sunset.

No. 13 Lake Minneola (1-2) also plays Thursday at Clermont East Ridge (2-0) in a Class 4 Suburban District 5 game between Lake County schools.

Sanford Seminole (2-1) dropped two spots to No. 3 in the Super 16 after losing 14-11 at Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast (3-0). Unbeaten Apopka, which played Friday without quarterback Tyson Davison due to injury, remains at No. 2 entering its bye week.

Leesburg (3-0) joins the rankings for the first time at No. 15 ahead of its most challenging game to date. The Yellowjackets travel to Ocala Vanguard (3-0) on Friday for a 3S District 5 matchup.

The Super 16 consists of schools in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and southwest Volusia counties. Last week’s ranking and win-loss records are included in parentheses.
