Jacob Eason is expected to return to the practice field today, head coach Kirby Smart confirmed during Monday’s press conference to preview Saturday night’s game with Mississippi State (7 p.m., ESPN).

“Jacob’s recovering well,” Smart said. “We hope to get him out there today and do some things. We’ll find out more today to see where he’s at.”

True to his word, Eason was indeed at practice on Monday, taking part in non-contact drills during the media's allotted seven minutes of viewing.

Smart did not say, however, if Eason will see any actual practice reps.

“We’ll wait and see,” Smart said. “We’ll see how he does.”

Eason hasn’t played since spraining his knee midway through the first quarter of Georgia’s season-opening win over Appalachian State.

Freshman Jake Fromm has taken the majority of the snaps in his place at quarterback, sans mop-up duty by Brice Ramsey, and comes into Saturday’s game having completed 34 of 57 passes for 449 yards and five scores.

“I’m so proud of him,” tight end Jeb Blazevich said. “He’s an awesome guy with crazy-hard work ethic and he just wants to be the leader of this team. He’s not afraid to step up, he’s not afraid to take chances, and he’s not afraid to put himself out there and give it all he’s got.”

The news on Eason wasn’t all on the Bulldog injury front:

...Malkom Parrish: The Bulldog cornerback has not played since breaking a bone in his foot almost a month ago but the senior is expected to return to the practice field today.

“We hope to be able to get him back this week but I can’t tell you anything until after practice today,” Smart said.

...Michael Chigbu: Chigbu is dealing with an undisclosed injury but Smart said he is expected to return to practice today. The junior did not dress out for Saturday’s Samford game.

...Rashad Roundtree: Smart said the backup defensive back has been sidelined with a concussion.

...Tyler Clark: Clark missed the Samford game with an undisclosed injury. He's expected to return to practice today.

UPDATE: Parrish, Clark and Chigbu all returned to practice on Monday. Roundtree was also seen riding a stationary bike during practice.
