Eagles vs. Falcons betting odds: Week 1 moneyline, spread originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The 2021 NFL regular season is soon approaching after three weeks of preseason games.

Some Philadelphia Eagles players emerged as valuable weapons in the preseason, including Quez Watkins, Kenneth Gainwell and others. Whether or not that translates to the regular season remains to be seen, but it’s obviously better to be good rather than bad in the preseason.

Looking ahead to the regular season schedule, the Eagles will begin the Nick Sirianni era against the Atlanta Falcons. Jalen Hurts is expected to start under center, as he begins his first full season as the Eagles’ starting quarterback after Carson Wentz was traded to the Indianapolis Colts.

Here’s the full betting preview for the Eagles’ Week 1 game against the Falcons:

Eagles vs. Falcons Moneyline, Spread and Total

Line: Falcons -3.5

Over/under: 48

Eagles team total O/U: 22

Falcons team total O/U: 25.5

Moneyline: Eagles +165 | Falcons -196

The Eagles and Falcons are familiar foes, having met three times in four seasons prior to 2021. Philadelphia is 2-1 in those three matchups, defeating Atlanta in the 2017 NFC Divisional Round and in the 2018 season opener. Atlanta topped Philly in Week 2 of the 2019 season, which was the last time these teams met.

The Eagles won’t be raising a banner in this Week 1 matchup like they did in 2018, as they’re coming off a disappointing 4-11-1 season. Hurts flashed in four starts to finish the season, offering hope that 2021 will be a different story. Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith was added with the 10th overall pick as Philly attempted to fortify Hurts’ weapons.

The Falcons struggled even more than the Eagles in 2020, finishing 4-12 before hiring Arthur Smith as their new head coach. Matt Ryan, Calvin Ridley and No. 4 overall pick Kyle Pitts form a potent offensive trio for Atlanta, while the Atlanta defense is led by two-time Pro Bowler Grady Jarrett.
