The home defeat to Everton was disappointing as it came during a run of games where many hoped Palace could build on their decent start to the season while managing their significant injury list.

It only makes the next couple of fixtures more important before the busy run into the winter break gets under way. You have to say the Eagles are in a good place when you look at how the Premier League table has settled down.

There will be a lot of reliance on Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise performing after coming back from injury as they are both integral to what Palace do well. It is becoming an odd season after handing Hodgson the reins for another year before a significantly important managerial appointment next summer.

There are arguments that it has wasted a season but only time will tell. However, there has been increasing criticism over the signings of Matheus Franca and Dean Henderson for what are considerable sums of money.

Overall, you have to say Palace are well placed to push on into December, provided they avoid such defeats as the one before the international break.
